The run from the Valley to Manchester is one road with a beginning and an end. Salem and Nashua are about 20 minutes, Methuen about 25, Haverhill and Lowell about 30, and Manchester itself about 10. Compare that with the Boston end of a Logan run, where the tunnel decides how the last fifteen minutes go, and the appeal of the smaller airport becomes obvious the first time you try it.

If you live in Salem or Nashua, yes, by more than half. Manchester is about 20 minutes from either, against 45 to 50 minutes to Logan. From Haverhill it is about 30 minutes to Manchester and 45 to 50 to Logan, from Methuen about 25 against about 40. Andover and Lowell are the towns where Logan usually still wins, because they are already pointed south.
